A Small Bump in the road for progress in Augusta!

The proposed arch concept was defeated and put to rest by Augusta's City Council  Monday night, Sept. 17.

The $30,000 Lakepoint Medical Facility had donated for the arch across State street was not accepted for concept by a 6-1-1 vote by the City Council.  Councilman Mike Wallace was the only one voting for it!  Thank you Mike!  Thank you Mayor Williams for your hard work and visions you have for our little town.

Save Our State Street has finished it's job!  $204,000 was collected from Augustans and from people that loves and believes in our town!  What a difference this project has created for our downtown!  New fronts are being constructed and many are finished.  Drive down state and look at The Brick Street Flower Company, Cooper Drug, The Augusta Historical museum, and others.  The fascade program is starting to get underway also, mostly surveying at this time.  This KDOT grant of $1.5 M was mostly due to the work of SOS and the enthusiasm that it created in the town.  Otherwise, we would not have gotten it!
